Cardamom
Cardamom
Another edible plant we'd like to see as a common houseplant.
Leaves look similar to ginger leaves with similar growth requirements.
Needs shade, moist soil, warmth, and humidity.
The spice comes from the seed pods of the flowers.
While flowering indoors would be rare to produce the seed pods for the spice cardamom, and our winters are likely too cold for it to complete it's bloom cycle outside, the leaves can be used in soups, sauces, or warm drinks.
