Black Pepper (Piper Nigrum)
Black Pepper (Piper Nigrum)
This is a vining plant that produces peppercorns for the spice pepper.
We'd like to make this the new houseplant to have and replace pothos.
Enjoys, warmth, humidity, and moist, rich soil.
Has aerial roots and needs something to climb as it ages and is often grown in understories.
Black Pepper is similar to betel plants. With its excess sugar, it will produce pearls under the leaves that can often turn black and moldy due to the sugars (pictured left). This is normal and should not be treated per Logee's.
